  1. And next is pre-dawn disappearances w/o the muss nor fuss of due process. Given the tools the temptation to expand their use will become too great (even for those that begin with qualms and misgivings -- not typically the sort attracted to power). "Democracy dies in the darkness." Let us know ALL of the methods, if not the content, and have real, frequent and vigorous review.

  2. Lucious: without the content we have no reason to believe their account of the methods. People who want a surveillance society need to support their arguments by citing testable examples where following due process has resulted in a terrorist catastrophe. Then, in rebuttal, we can cite all the testable examples where the elimination of due process has been the principal tool of terrorists who run police states. This democracy will never collapse because of crazy guys with beards in turbans, but it is on the brink of collapse now because of guys with flag pins on their lapels.
