Where the cow things roam

*
For my little niece-y, who visited Uncle's blog yesterday, I present a picture of a cow thing. Is this the mighty creature that was tapping gently at your patio window one dark and scary Corn Belt night, sweety?

Editor's note: picture is copyrighted by some guy named "johncabranes", and was downloaded from his Flickr photostream for purposes of personal, not-for-profit research or education only.

  1. How about a picture of black angus cow thingies smiling in the moonlight?

  2. I assume your niece knows of other types of cows as well (vs this somewhat anacronistic "Texas" version).

As to war & profit & stuff: for a rather large corporate subset war is VERY profitable. It's almost the ultimate in short time/quick cycle built in obselesence. Plus, if you "choose wisely Grasshopper" the actual fighting is where corporate interests (U.S. at least) are minimal.

Conjectures as to a nebulous dread / 90% of the iceberg / nefarious plans void and w/o form if only for lack of information from the complicated shadows:

    1. Wall street has been goosed for "feel good" times. It will continue until the election. Thereafter is, after all, another day and if as likely Obama is elected it'll be an untenable economic situation. En passant in chess or a purposely bad lie in 8-ball. When the "no shorts" rule comes off watch out below.

    2. China is buying us lock/stock/barrel. Before to a lesser degree it was the Japanese and real estate (to which we eventually said "thanks, sucker"). This seems a whole'nother kettle of kippers.

    3. Ultimately watch out for an allegedly "lite" version of WWIII. Post 2 our untouched island continent romped and stomped economically while everyone else was picking up the pieces. Though deeply warped some might view this as a viable strategy. There's nothing more dangerous than a wounded empire.

  3. There he is! He definitely belongs to some strange, window-tapping breed that cows with friendlier demeanors would not willingly associate with.

  4. re anon #2's #1 point-- yes, things would go the hell when the no shorting rule is lifted. But it's more likely to happen even before that-- when, next week, this bare-faced stickup (the crooks aren't even wearing bandanas) becomes visible to all and a couple Congress-things start throwing sticks into the spokes.

  5. Anon 1: You'll rue the day you made light of cow-things in the dark, or made dark of them, actually.

Niece-y: I believed you all along.

You other guys: I finna go eat some pills.
